Spring 2015 Plus Size Dresses Debut

Spring 2015 Plus Size Dresses Debut

Updated: November 20, 2020

Exhausted but exhilarated after a fabulous week in Atlanta for our Spring 2015 plus size dresses debut  featuring designs from Sydney's Closet Prom,  Bridal and Special Occasion Collections. Buyers from across the country and around the world visited our new showroom during the World of Prom show at AmericasMart in downtown Atlanta. Here are highlights of the whirlwind week:

Buyers loved our showroom model Monique Robinson  so much they asked for her autograph before she jetted back to New York! You will see how beautiful Monique looks in our Prom 2015 plus size dresses when we release our photos - very soon.

When Monique took a much deserved break, the store owners that carry our collections got their turn to be on the runway.  Several volunteered to try on our sample dresses so other buyers could see how they looked on a body instead of a hanger.  They looked gorgeous!

Thanks to our friend and neighbor Johnathan Kayne for lending us glamorous evening shoes for our models to wear. (Sorry Johnathan we were ran out of ice when you came by to borrow some!)

Trend alert!

What dresses caught the buyers' eyes?
  • curve hugging jersey sheath with sequins and net illusion
  • lace embellished with sequin appliques
  • sexy corseted mini dresses with floor-length tulle overlay
  • soft, feminine hues a pretty palette of pastels.

You can't have market without candy, lots of candy. Among the chocoholics, Almond Joy, Snickers and Reese Peanut Butter cups ranked tops. We couldn't fill the bowls fast enough with replacements. Chocolate works up a mighty thirst.

Buyers couldn't wait for 5 o'cocktail somewhere for us to start pouring our famous Glamourtinis - back by popular demand from previous markets in Atlanta.  The cocktail is so popular we printed the recipe up to hand out. New for this year, Sydney's Closet hosted a buyers' breakfast called "Conquering the Curves:  Prom Edition".  Plus size style expert Marcy Guevara offered tips and tricks to help stores make  curvy customers feel comfortable, confident when they shop for special occasion dresses.  After the breakfast, buyers got a chance to meet one-on-one with Marcy in our showroom before she jetted back to L.A.

Great to see buyers from bridal and dress stores in the U.S. that already carry Sydney's Closet Collections.  Now we're going global.  Look for our designs to be carried at retail stores in Saudi Arabia and Paraguay in addition to Russia, Brazil, Netherlands, Canada, Malta and Mexico.  Check our store locator to find a store new you! Next stop is the Dallas Prom and Bridal market early September in Dallas.  Then we're onto Chicago late September.
