Trends at Hong Kong Fashion Week 2015

Just back with our Fashion Team from a whirlwind trip to China designing dresses for the Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 Collections of Prom, Bridal and Social Occasions plus size dresses. So much exciting news to share with you on the fashion front from Hong Kong Fashion Week. (Please excuse me if I'm a little fuzzy. Blame it on a severe case of jet lag that has me sleeping days and staying up nights!) Singers Jay Fung, Alfred Hui and Meg Lam

Here's our trend alert of what's hot from Hong Kong Fashion Week: - Midi dress: fresh new length that hits the middle of the calf. Would you wear? - Cropped wide leg pants: love the look for evening with a sequin top. - Formal wear gets curve conscious with body-hugging designs in sexy Jersey fabric imported from Korea. Look for sexy slits and trains on the designs to add to the feminine allure. - prints inch back onto the fashion scene after several seasons of solid colors. Taking a cue from the great Impressionist painters, many of the print textiles feature muted designs in watercolors. - Mikado satin, a thick and oh-so luxurious fabric, debuts for evening and Prom gowns for a classic and elegant look. Loving how the fabric drapes in slinky Mermaid styles with skirts that flair out from the knees. - Sheer delight: stretch net illusion on bodices and backs lets you dare to bare a little skin. - Lace: the love affair with the classic feminine fabric continues for Bridal, Prom and even Cocktail dresses often updated in deep rich jewel tone colors. Look for lace to be layered with tulle for a fresh take on the traditional fairy-tale style ball gown. - Bridal gowns toast the idea of lining an ivory dress in a champagne satin for a rich, dimensional look. The result is a rich alternative color to the traditional white or ivory.

A highlight of the annual fair is always seeing the creative displays in the gigantic hallways. This year we couldn't take our eyes off the one that made a nod to the technical design that goes into each garment. How clever to take patterns for garments and turn them into a temporary flooring! Most people focus on how a garment looks. Few outside the industry realize how important it is to have the correct construction inside the garment so the fabric drapes beautifully and most of all, fits properly. The fair organizers know that fashionistas love food and who can resist the sweet treat of free Hagen Daas ice cream mid-afternoon just when our energy slumps. hong kong fashion week 2015

Taking in all those fashions from early morning to early evening leaves our feet aching. Thank goodness "Happy Feet" foot massage is conveniently located next door to our hotel so we can indulge in an hour of pampering. It's the perfect way to end our visit to Hong Kong before we fly to Mainland China to continue designing the Spring 2016 Collections. Join us!
