Hong Kong Fashion Week 2015

welcome sign to hong kong fashion weekThe Fashion Team is wrapping up our wonderful whirlwind of a visit to Hong Kong Fashion Week 2015, Asia's biggest annual fashion gala. Here's highlights from a front-row perspective: Fashion Trend Forecast

fashion displayLook for the Midi Dress to make a splash in 2015.  The design gets its name from a hemline that hits the midcalf. It's very close to where the popular tea- length dresses hit your leg.

Say so long to narrow pant legs.  Say hello to wide legged pants with designs that flare out at the bottom.  These aren't your mother's bell bottoms.  I'm loving this look after too many years of slim silhouettes on pants.  Soo refreshing.

I'm planning to design a chiffon evening pant in black with wide leg that will look sensational no matter what you wear on top from a sexy t-shirt to a sequin bomber jacket.

Fabrics:  cotton, linen and other natural fabrics will steal the scene. Formal Evening Dresses Watch for sexy style of the glamorous sixties to return when women dress up after the sun goes down.  Think the passionate and alluring looks of timeless beauties like Sophia Loren.   An intense and powerfully passionate red color will dominate evening dresses according to feedback from Hong Kong Fashion Week 2015. fashion workshop display Gold, copper and champagne are also slated to be on trend for after 5 and cocktail dresses. Tulle, always a favorite fabric of mine to use for ballgowns, can be expected to steal the scene.  (I'll also be using a stretch mesh for the Spring 2016 collection of special occasion dresses) If you favor hues that make a fashion splash, orange with the edge of fireworks and blue with a lightening streak, can be your safe choices. Look for prints to pop up after several years of taking a back seat. Sweet (and not so sweet) Treats: Here is an example of the food offered at the Hong Kong Fashion Fair.  I enjoyed the veggie platter while some of our other Fashion Design Team members went for the more adventurous delicacies.  Do these items belong on a plate together - chicken and chocolate, beef and pumpkin, octopus and ...well, anything? chineese menu Racing around the sprawling Hong Kong Exhibition Center leaves us with aching feet.  Kudos to Hong Kong Fashion Week 2015 organizers who came up with the idea of an ice cream break.  Who doesn't love sitting down to a cup of Haagen-Dazs? free Haagen-Daaz ice cream
