The TODAY Show Thursday, May 17th!
Thanks to the Today Show for telling the big story of the high anxiety surrounding the hunt for perfect plus size prom dress then showcasing Sydney’s Closet coming to the rescue!
 “It’s frustrating whenever you go to 20 different shops and you find nothing
that fits right,” Abby Shelton of St. Charles, Missouri tells
the Today Show in the plus sized Prom dress story that aired
May 17, 2007. “They don’t cater towards anyone who
isn’t a size 4,” says Abby who before she shopped at Sydney’s Closet
had skipped formal dances in high school because she couldn’t
find a plus size formal dress.
 Abby’s Mom Kathy Shelton fights back tears as the cameras roll:
“You want your daughter to be confident and you want them to
feel good about themselves no matter what they weigh.”
After trying on half a dozen Prom dresses at Sydney’s Closet
in suburban St. Louis, Abby finds her dream one: a pink strapless A-line with
beaded and sequins flowers.
“I feel really good about myself and I feel confident,” says Abby who arrived
at Prom like a real Princess in a horse-drawn carriage.
 Phyllis Brasch Librach, president and founder of Sydney’s Closet, shares
her story and fashion philosophy with the Today Show.
“Our fashion mantra is no more muumuus…it has to be a dress that’s so great someone who
wears a single-digit size would want to wear it.”
 For Keiara Stowers of St. Louis, Missouri a red beaded chiffon dress makes her look
as ready for Hollywood a for her Prom. “It brings out my complexion and makes my
glow,” she tells the Today Show.
“She just lit up like a Queen,’’ says her proud Mother, Evette Stowers.

teens shopping for a prom dress:
